For June’s MTFF Presents, we are thrilled to partner with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana with Nia DaCosta’s Little Woods.
DaCosta’s gripping drama follows Ollie (Tessa Thompson) who has spent years connecting North Dakota oil works with prescription medication. At the edge of a parole sentence, nearly free to move on with her life, she is pulled back in after her sister (Lily James) needs to find access to an abortion. Little Woods is a powerful story, and strong feature debut from a promising new filmmaker.
“This startlingly accomplished debut feature by Nia DaCosta has the eyes and ears of a documentary—the opioid crisis is everywhere, the nearest hospital is far away—but the heart of a drama.” – The Wall Street Journal
Little Woods had its Montana premiere at the 2018 Montana Film Festival. This screening is sponsored by and benefits Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana. Panel discussion will follow the film.
